CEL Model of a Boat Floating on a Wavy Sea

The CEL method was formulated with the aim of combining the advantages of the Lagrangian and Eulerian formulations. Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL)  analysis is typically used to model the interactions between a solid body and a yielding or fluid material.

In this model, you will learn how to create a CEL model of a boat floating on a wavy sea. To simplify the solution and reduce the computational cost, the boat and gate are assumed to be rigid bodies. The gate was placed in contact with the water and was utilized to generate waves.

This simulation model will show you:

-how to define the material properties of an Eulerian material for a fluid;

-how to use the volume fraction tool to determine which part of the Eulerian region is filled with material;

-how to use the volume fraction tool to determine which part of the Eulerian region is empty.

-definition of periodic amplitude
